We have “The Secret Garden”. “Little Woman” is a good suggestion. Jane Austen, well, my daughter maybe to “immature” for her books. My daughter just turned 13 and not into “romantic” stuff yet and “Anne of Green Gables” seems to be the same reading level as the “American Girl’s” books. I don’t know. I only just saw those at the book store and thought they looked good. I thought they would help her get more interested in American history. I told her about them, that the main characters are 9 yrs old, takes place in different time periods, etc. She seems real interested. I want them to learn something out of everything they read and thought that fiction based on non-fiction history would be the way to go.
I’m really disappointed. She used to be more interested in reading a yr ago. She had a book in her face every day and now it’s becoming rare. It seems that ever since she was showing off her new big, fat library book (Eragon) to her Grandma, who says “WHAT ARE YOU READING THAT FOR? IT LOOKS BORING!”, and went on and on about, she lost interest in reading.
Anyway, keep on with the suggestions, I really appreciate it.
