Hi!

My only and younger sister is the Baptism godmother for my two older sons. The boys are almost 10 and 8 years old.

My sister has never been married, but I wanted her to have my children in case something happened to my husband and I.

For my oldest son, we had her and an uncle of mine. For our youngest, her and a girlfriend of hers.

My husband and I live in the US, and our choices for godparents were very limited due to the fact that he barely knows any of my friends and the baptisms took place with my family in Mexico.

Two years ago, my sister told my mother that she was in a relationship with that girl who was also at my youngest son’s baptism as godmother! Before that, we never had any indications of same sex attraction, or reasons to believe it was more than a close friendship.

I failed to research more on godparents and the priest there made no objection to having two single women as godmothers with no godfather. Now they are both involved in a same sex relationship.

Not only that, but apparently, everybody thought my sister had been confirmed and there is no record of it, so technically, she is not.

Is there anything I can do about this? I am almost temped to strike their names off the baptismal certificate… but I won’t.
