I recently re-entered the catholic church and have gone to confession. At the time I did not confess the fact that I participated in invitro fertilization with the help of a donor. I did not know that it was against the catholic church at the time of my procedure and there were additional frozen eggs that I donated to research. I now after realize that I committed a moral sin. Will I be excomunicated from the Catholic Church for my actions? Also, how do I handle this in regard to confession. When I went to confession my priest asked had I had an abortion in my past and I answered no. I now come to realize the catholic church feels that the extra eggs were aborted. I was away from confession for 30 years and the church teachings so I am trying to clean up my past so I can live in a Catholic way. Please help me understand what needs to be done. Also, being I was 30 years away from confession I am fearful that I may forget sins and they will not be forgiven, What is your recommendation for a catholic that has been away so long.
