I am not sure this is the right place to post this question or not. My nine-year-old daughter makes fortuneteller toys from origami. I asked her to talk to a priest about this to make sure it is o.k., but she just threw it in the garbage. We have had this same conversation before. I am not sure how to handle the situation because it is only when she plays with a certain friend (who is not Catholic or Christian). How should I handle this situation? Also what about fortune cookies at the Chinese restaurant. My family has a history of involvement in the occult which I have renounced and that’s part of why my daughter’s behavior upsets me. My husband (who is not Catholic or Christian) says it is not a big deal, just kids playing. Any advice would be appreciated. God bless.

Hi,

I think I have to go with your husband on this one. Fortune cookies are a joke. Most people don’t take their messages seriously. And the toy is just a kid thing. I can understand your concern because of family history. But I think you are over-reacting a bit.
