What do I do with an old Communion rail?

My parents had donated the Communion rail to their church and were given some of it back when it was taken out during remodeling. I have had a piece of it for 25 years and don’t know what to do with it. It could be used to make a table or shelf for home, but I’m concerned about that not being a sacred enough purpose. It definitely had direct contact with the Eucharist over the years, and therefore is sacred.
 
You are free to put the railing to any appropriate purpose you see fit. It would have been deconsecrated from use as a liturgical object when it was given to your parents.
