I am constantly receiving requests to donate to charitable organizations. I only donate to a couple of them, however I get requests from organizations I never heard about with pictures of starving children. Many of them will send a nickel, dime, or even three nickles. What do I do with these? Is it okay if I just take the coins and pocket them or is that a sin?

The coins are being sent as an enticement to donate, and as a form of emotional manipulation. There is no sin involved in keeping anything you are sent in the mail that you have not purchased or requested to be sent. You can pocket them if you wish, or you could toss them in a change purse and drop them in the basket at church next time you go to Mass.
