It seems that in every option there is a great degree of uncertainty and i don’t know if by picking x i would be better off picking y.How do i know if the lord is displeased with me picking x and not y?I am struggling with this question, and i have been spending my days in great confusion and with a tinge of lethargy because of that.I just don’t know what to focus on.

God gave us free will to Choose, there are always going to be times of uncertainty in life for that reason. All you can do is pray for clarity, but sometimes God doesn’t always tell you “Do this , then this next then this next” he sometimes points you in a direction and let’s you figure it out. Just as a baby learning to walk cannot have it’s parents say " put the this leg in front , not this leg, now the right leg again" e.t.c

The parent , instead gives the Baby support and something to aim for while it figures out the physicality of walking by itself, and “deciding” what to do with its’ legs 🙂

You can’t expect God to tell you every single direction and choice to make, which some people do expect, even I myself have been guilty of this in the past until I realised a few things. You, have to also, make effort to make your own choices, and hopefully and faithfully they will be the right ones sometimes not, that’s part of learning. Other times it will be as clear as day, what you must do, and again you can choose that or something else.

I wouldn’t get too anxious about these things as it only adds to the uncertainty and you could spend a lifetime worrying about things you cannot change anyway. Just pray and ask God for direction and try to make the best decisons you can, for God for the greater good and for the life God wants you to live. You can also discuss things with a priest and seek some spiritual direction about big decisions , or any choices you’ve made which worry you. But for the most part, when you are strong in faith and prayer, you often find the right decisions are glaringly obvious to you and they are not always what you would expect and God is not always standing their with a huge Megaphone, shouting you on like those guys who row boats in the Olympic games have. Sometimes he just silently points you where to go, and you must follow , often not knowing where the path leads.

Hope that helps
God Bless

This is a time of great uncertainty for everyone. Be comforted in that. In times of desolation don’t make big changes or decisions in life, wait til times of consolation. Life goes in sort of waves of both. Probably for most people this is a time of desolation. So yes think and discern but hold of on the actual decision unless its essential you make it now and then trust on God who will give you the grace to do so, always. It is whether we listen or not.

To better listen, google St Ignatius Loyola’s discernment of spirits and or other saints and what they have to say. Mostly, as has been said, pray. Also get into a state of grace and/or remain in one ( you can confess directly to God for now until you can get to confession also make use of the Popes plenary indulgences ie his blessing of 27 March and for praying the rosary for healing of the coronovirus and the Chaplet of Divine mercy) also go about your normal business as far as restrictions allow and God will show you his will. Pray for others and make sacrifices and do penance and read the Bible. All this will help you to follow Gods will and see it by learning to listen. God bless you, I will pray for you.

Sorry to hear this. It sounds like you are discerning a vocation?
  1. Talk to Father.
  2. Pray pray pray.
  3. Seek a spiritual director.
Unless there is some crucial time restraint, live your life in holiness and the Lord will lead, if you seek with an open heart and are submissive to the Holy Spirit.

I always had this issue… even now… The most important thing is to ask the Lord what He wants from you, and also tell Him of your desires (even if it’s physical or spiritual needs). He is our Father, not a stranger to us. Since we are on isolation and all during this pandemic at our own homes, I can’t go to the Adoration Chapel nor attend the Holy Mass like any others out there. Usually what I used to do was to talk to Jesus in front of the Bl. Sacrament for a few minutes (Tell him everything that I have in my mind, also, asking Him to help me to make a right decision during certain circumstances. You will hear back from Him!
I also found a website which can help you with this: Discernment: Making Inspired Choices | Loyola Press

Pray and wait! Do not be anxious, but, BE STILL!
Ask the Bl. Mother to guide you always and St. Joseph, as they also had many situations in their lives of making the right choices (especially, when St. Joseph deciding whether or not to accept Mary as his wife)… and choose a Saint of your choice! Start praying!!! That changes everything!
God bless You!

Focus on what you want to do. God doesn’t care. As long as He is a priority in your life it doesn’t matter what you do with your life.

God gave us free will. He is not micromanaging our choices.

When you have a decision the question is “will this hinder my path to heaven?” If the answer is No, then it is all in your hands (it is in your hands to also choose sin, but, you do not want to do that!!)
