What do I do with non-Catholic books on spirituality?

I am in the process out clearing out some old books that have been accumulating in my bookcase. I was thinking about giving some of the spirituality books to charity that I am not particularly interested in reading and are not written by orthodox Catholic authors. I know this sounds kind of extreme, but given these books are not wholly in conformity with the teachings of Catholic Church, should I destroy them?

Destroying the books is neither required or necessary. Only if the books were completely without merit and a positive danger to souls (e.g., books on the occult) would throwing them away or destroying them be necessary. If the books are merely by non-Catholic Christians and not fully in conformity with the Catholic faith, you might give them to a local Protestant church for their library, or you might give them to a public library, thrift store, or non-Catholic charity.
