What do I do?

I got impregnanted by my friend who is a seminarian and is most likely to be ordained a priest two years fom now. He doesn’t want to abort the child but he said either ways he would have to leave the seminary because he cannot bear to have a child and still become a priest. Am ready to keep the child so that he can continue with the seminary but he doesn’t seem to want to go on. According to him, becoming a priest doesn’t make sense to him anymore. Apart from that,am so scaried to keep the baby because the difficults and challenges i’ll face from family is too much for me. Pls help me.

Dear friend,

The baby’s welfare needs to be your top priority, If you discern that it would be better for the baby to give it up for adoption, this is a very noble and responsible thing to do. I agree with your friend, it doesn’t sound like he ought to proceed to ordination. But how he feels must be secondary to how you discern what is best for the baby.
