What do I say to a friend who makes anti-Catholic jokes at school?

I have a friend who made a rude joke at school having to do with priests and child molesting. I’m not going to say the joke without someone asking. But I had no clue what to say. I felt like I should have said something, but I couldn’t think of what to say. Any advice if he makes another such joke or if I run into someone else doing the same thing?

If you feel capable of and secure about giving your friend a warning, you could say, “The school has rules against making bigoted jokes, especially jokes that have sexual content.” If your friend ignores the implied warning, or if you don’t feel it to be wise to say something like this directly to your friend, then just go to a teacher or guidance counselor and report that a fellow student has been harassing you by making anti-Catholic, sexually-explicit jokes.
