For a long time, I was really confused as to what I believed. I told one of my best friends “I think the reason I can’t let go of Catholicism is because it’s just a deeply ingrained belief system that I was born into”. You know, chalking it up to purely psychological reasoning. Anyway, now I am confident in what I believe and I started going back to Church. I’m just not sure how to tell my friend.

I mean I’d like to. He’s my best friend. We share everything.

You can just let it come up naturally. It’s not like you are coming out of the closet or anything.

Just tell him because you found the full deposit of truth which is an everlasting treasure.

Just tell him you’ve thought more about Catholicism and decided you want to start practising again.

How do you expect him to react when he learns this?
Because if his reaction is not a problem then telling him ought not to be a problem.

If you tell him, just tell him you are confident in what you know in your heart. If he can’t support that, or if he makes a continuing issue of it, I think you would have to make some decisions about what people you want in your life.

Why not tell him just what you said in your post? Since you have said he’s a good friend, that should be enough.
