What do I say to my Protestant friend?

A good friend, who is a Protestant, asked me to go out and evangelize with him. My first reaction was my concern that my presence evangelizing with him would give the appearance that I support Protestant teaching. How do I politely and accurately explain this position?

You just did! You are a Catholic and cannot support another version of Christianity.
