What do I tell a non-Catholic friend who wants to go to Confession?

how does a non caltholic go about talking to a prest at a local church. can he confess and ask for forgiveness he has done volent things and wants to do better but says he is not remoresful… how can i direct him to relize he needs to be remorsefull before he can be forgiven of his sins.a book for him to read? he has come to me for help and I know god wants me to point him in the right direction but i dont know how to go about doing it
