We all know we have differences in the way we think, but what is common to muslims and christians.

The spirit of charity for one.

The focus on prayer and serving one another.

Fasting (although this is one that some christians have forsaken)

The love for God (even if our concepts of God differ) and His messengers and their laws.

Both profess to seek the same G-d of Abraham (pbuh).
Both profess to rebuke Satan.
Both profess mercy above justice.

The single most important item is : “Belief in One God,” the God of Abraham.

We SHOULD also share to a FAR Greater Degree; there Basic Moral values.

Both profess to seek the same G-d of Abraham (pbuh).
Both profess to rebuke Satan.

In these days it is easy for us to forget who we are, if we give in to the hate and mistrust, how are we any different from muslim terrorists?

Its very important to have faith in God, the hate and mistrust comes first from not trusting God enough.

Many Christians on these forums lament the islamicization of europe- but who can we blame for this but ourselves?

We dont have children anymore, we are depopulating the continent without any assistance from anyone else.

And this depopulation starts with a rejection of the teachings of Rome.

No, we cannot fight the muslims, nor should we be thinking about them until our house is in order.

It is us, we are the ones who are already lost, we are killing ourselves.

If i look at the Crucifixion stories in the simplest search for what is common putting aside the difference.

Both see G-d is most powerful and blind men only perceive they are triumphant over His.

My personal opinion is that on the surface in a summary of few words we seem to have many things in common but if we look into the details on how they are to be achieved, Islam and Christianity can be very far apart and at times simply oppose each other. So it depends on how we see it.

It’s interesting and am looking forwards to hear more. I would like and wish we can really have many things that are common.

Really? I read many times it is said that Christians worship three gods.
Both profess to rebuke Satan.
To a Christian, anyone who denies the death and the resurrection of Jesus simply serve the agenda of Satan and not of God.
Both profess mercy above justice.
How?

I am not trying to be negative by disagreeing; I just need more facts which are sincere and truthful that says otherwise and not whitewashes in order to make it looks nice.

They both hold martyrdom in high regard.
Maybe, but Christians do not go out looking for it. Christian martyrs die because of persecution and in a situation that they could not avoid unless they renounce their faith.

I am not sure i trust you on this given both the thread starter and you are professing Catholics. I posted in the spirit of the thread, how can i respond to you who profess to be of the Catholic faith. I assume you both accept her guidance.
I chose my words care fully and used few.

Profess i mean To affirm openly; declare or claim:
My understanding is at least once a week Catholics speech, profess faith. They also ask for forgiveness as they have not fully lived what they profess.
Both profess to seek the same G-d of Abraham (pbuh).
Ask any Muslim if they worship the G-d of Abraham (pbuh) You be the voice of the Christain do you worship the G-d of Abraham (pbuh). If in doubt as a Catholic seek guidance from your Catechism.
Really? I read many times it is said that Christians worship three gods.
So this post is not about what each group profess about each other IMO that shows your heart is against the threads intention intent on finding difference. Do you as a Catholic profess your G-d is three? do Muslims profess their G-d is three?
Both profess to rebuke Satan.
To a Christian, anyone who denies the death and the resurrection of Jesus simply serve the agenda of Satan and not of God.
You be the voice of the Christian, do you rebuke satan? Muslims rebuke satan at the beginning of all prayers. Maybe if you could not cope with me using the word profess and want to change what i said for what your heart is holding.
Both profess mercy above justice.
I will stay on the easy road you be the voice of a Christian do you hold mercy above justice? Muslims profess the Quran is the highest written authority they have, it teaches mercy is better than justice.

HMM i cant help but feel you are not wanting to see anything in common but your post is seeking to find difference lots of threads here at CAF for that but the title here reads different to me.

Seek and you will find. Enjoy the peace and blessing in holding close what you sought.

Bless you Br Ruben

I understand that we both rebuke Satan. But who is this Satan that we rebuke? Jesus rebuked those who tried to deny his death. Islam denies his death. How can that make us common?

Mathew 19
21From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”
23Jesus turned and said to Peter, **“Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” **

That is what I meant. It cannot be common when it is not. So I want you to convince me. Give me the specifics truthfully and sincerely. I have no problem with our differences because that is what I see between us. We don’t have to fight or hate each other because of our differences but on the other hand have to accept it and to love each other despite the differences. The practical way to do this for me is to recognize the difference and accept each other as what we are and believe.

In the absence of the perceived common characteristic that the two religions have categorically, I will not pretend there is. I have been long enough in this discussion and so far have not been convinced but I am willing to listen. You cannot accuse me of not wanting to see our commonness; you have to show me your conviction as I have shown you mine. I am opened to be corrected but I need to see them.

This is my first comment on this thread:

Bless you too. 🙂

But who is this Satan that we rebuke?
To us, Satan is a fallen angel. He was once an angel of God but due to his pride he rebelled against God and as a consequence driven from heaven to hell. He has ever since gone against God in all ways until today.

Islam does not believe that Satan is an angel albeit a fallen one but some other creature. Thus Islam’s satan is definitely **NOT **Christianity’ Satan.

We can say that both of us rebuke Satan. By using the same word does not mean that we are talking about the same thing. So it is fallacious to say that we are common in this.

How doesone put the Crucifixion asside?

How doesone put the Crucifixion asside?
One is trying to make a tie that isn’t there. The definition of sin is different, the definition of morality is different and the message of the Quran is different. It could be why so many Christians are persecuted in Muslim lands. Not even the Muslims in those lands believe there is a tie.

More importantly, God said He would not change the message or be a liar.

the Bible says that the one thing to be certain is that God will not lie to us.

"Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged." Hebrews 6:17-18

We are told in the book of Titus that God will not lie to us:

"a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time," Titus 1:2

And quite often in Islamic texts we are told that either Allah is a ‘plotter and planner’, a deceiver. Or that Muhammad lied in order to get what he wanted, or to advance Islam. And Muhammed told his followers to lie if it benefitted them. the one thing allah and moe were consistent about was when moe wanted to satisfy his sexual perversions.

The Angel Gabriel, that someone brought up on a different thread is a good example of a lie by Muhammad. If the Angel Gabriel came to Muhammad as he said (it wasn’t actually Muhammad that said that but his wife after Muhammad came to him quivering and fearful in order to sooth him, or shut him up) he is saying that the Angel Gabriel lied. The Angel came to Mary to tell her she was to be the mother of God, and then Muhammad said that Jesus was just a prophet. (one big lie!)

The definitions of sin are different in Islam. Whatever advances Islam is good and whatever inhibits it is bad. I said this before on a different thread that any resemblence to the 10 commandments in Islam only applies Muslim to Muslim. With Jihad we are to accept subjugation or death if we reject the call to Islam.

Trying to say there is a tie is pretty far fetched and leading many astray.

… So I want you to convince me. Give me the specifics truthfully and sincerely.
You say you want it but do you or do you want me to prove Islam and Christianity are the same.

Seriously Bro, what did i say and how have you treated it?

Bare true witness to the words i spoke.

The thread starter asked
We all know we have differences in the way we think, but what is common to muslims and christians
I offered what Christians and Muslims profess, what they say. IE
Both profess to seek the same G-d of Abraham (pbuh) Both profess to rebuke Satan. Both profess mercy above justice.
And you intend to insist prove this is what Christians and Muslims say???

Or do you want me to sort for you your heart?

From your post it seems the latter. Seriously it is like you want me to defend Islam to you. Can you not read the title of the thread, do you not understand the first line of the thread? do you not understand the definition i posted for my use of the word profess?

Your post does nothing to correct my post but shows me you cant honour the intent of the starter of this thread. Your post shows me you can not honour the truth of the words i typed.

You have asked me to speak to you “specifics truthfully and sincerely”, (best i can)
I feel you should grow some and start a thread to suite your own agenda or join the other threads with agendas that are like yours. When quoting people and challenging peoples posts you should stay with what they offer.

You have taken what i posted and mixed it with your ego of desire to find difference.

I say ego because if it were in truth a call from Our Father your issue would be with the thread starter or the actual words i typed and you would have been focused.

Your premises for posting to me either means you are insecure in your faith and desire being show or you are sure you are right and in a sound position to argue anything offered.

If it is the first go to Imams and Priests and scholars of the religions or what works for me is to ask Our Father as Yeshua (pbwh) taught. I assume you have already prayed and it has not worked out for you given the premises offerings of your post.

I urge you Br Reuben to pray on this, return to the first post you quoted me, read what words I have actually typed and bare truth witness for or against them and dont use my posts to float your agenda that is against the intent of this thread. With respect you look to me like some one out to prove something. My G-d needs no proof as He was, is and will be. He calls me to support those who promote seeking goodness.

Br Algabra sorry for posting so much off from your topic.

Peace and blessings to you all

How doesone put the Crucifixion asside?
Peace and blessings, my post does not say one should. Why do you think one should? Why do you want to or want me to?

The Christian understand of the crucifixion is full of blessings, i guess if it is an obstical for you in having relationship with G-d maybe you should.

I have not questioned you to place an obstical in your way, but you maybe asking the wrong guy.

Best i can say to you is as you are wanting to put the crucifixion aside be careful and hold firm to the understanding that G-d is powerful above all things and even if people think they are more powerful it is delusion not truth.

Sorry if this doe not help, should i pray for you, my heart desires but His guidance tells me it is not necessary.

At times i can be offered guidance from fair seeming spirits that are not sent to serve so if you need prayer for this question you have please pm me and we can start praying together in to G-d in the way of personal sacrifice.

Bless you stay well and keep in touch.

Here are the similarities:
  • they claim Islam is Abrahamic. (not true - it is only their claim but the roots of Islam isn’t even close to Abrahamic. What Muhammad did was to take some stories and twist them to serve his own agenda
  • they claim that they worship one God. (true - but the behavior towards Muhammad and the Black rock imply differently. But even if we give them that one, Allah bears no resemblence to YHWH and even if we want to wish Allah and YHWH are the same (for some reason I don’t know), my previous post on God not being a liar still holds here
-you claim they abide by the 10 Commandments. Tell me what your idea of Jihad is?

Sorry, I don’t quite understand what you are saying. I do not wish to guess what it is as it will create further misunderstanding. I said what I said - that the seemingly common that we have with Islam is not that common after all, but fallacious.

There is much more in commnon that we have with Judaism. Same Bible, same God, only that they do not have the New Testaments.

Islam is a totally different animal altogether. For starter it does not even accept that Bible.
