Before anyone asks why I’m not asking this on a Muslim forum, I simply have no desire to be a part of one when I can get answers from the Muslim members of this forum, as I know there are several.
I am just curious, what do Muslims believe is the final fate of non-Muslims (I.E. Christians, Jews, Pagans)?

Those who do not believe in Islam can be classified into two groups:
  1. Those who are termed ‘Jahil-e-Muqassir’ (lit. ‘culpable ignorant’) and who are obstinate non-believers. That is, Islam has reached them and they have understood its truthfulness; however, they are not prepared to accept the truth due to their obstinacy and stubbornness. This group of non-believers deserves to be punished in Hell because despite having known the truth, they have chosen with their own free will to reject Islam. These non-believers, even though they may be of good conduct, could have attained salvation but instead have closed the path to salvation themselves as they have covered the truth and are rebellious and obstinate in relation to it. As a result, they have chosen their own predicament.
  2. Those who are termed ‘Jahil-e-Qasir’ (lit. ‘inculpable ignorant’). These are non-believers to whom the message of Islam has not reached, or it has been presented to them in a very incomplete and untruthful manner; so for example, they think that Islam has the same status and rank as the religions of India and China and at the most, Judaism and Christianity. This group of non-believers, whether they live in the most remote parts of the world or in the most civilized, will not be subject to the punishments of Hell because they are not blameworthy for their lack of belief, and punishment is only for blameworthy sinners.
Unfortunately, there is so much propaganda against Islam that free thinking and seeking the truth has been taken away from many people in a way that they cannot distinguish truth from falsehood. The fact is that despite making significant material progress, contemporary man has regressed spiritually. The main cause of this is the ‘World Arrogance’—the superpower enemies of Islam—with its propagandist and deceptive media system that in full force tries to change and distort the truth. Therefore, many people, even in the most civilized of places, have remained unaware of the true message of Islam and of the enlivening Ahlul Bayt (ع) school of thought. Worse still, incorrect and unrealistic information about Islam is given to them in a way that a religion of mercy, love and justice is portrayed as a religion of violence, oppression and injustice.

In conclusion, from the point of view of Islam, those who have not heard about the true message of Islam and are not blameworthy with regard to this will attain salvation if they are truthful to their own religion. This religion must be based on the ‘fitrah’[153]—man’s primordial, innate nature—and so the followers of such a religion, for example, abstain from lying and committing crimes against humanity. This rule is also applicable to the Ahlus Sunnah to whom the truthfulness of Shi’aism has not been explained correctly.

so I take it that Sunni Muslims might fall into either Category depending upon their status or position within the Mosque. also what about the other sects of Islam that teach an erroneous form of Islam from your shi’i perspective. Lastly how might a Sunni answer these questions? TY for your time & response.

Truth be said, muhammad wasn’t even sure of his own salvation. The man admitted it himself. And its also recorded that he also jumped in fright at the eclipse thinking that judgement day had come. So, what makes anyone think muslims even know where they themselves are going??? Let alone the NON-Muslims.

what do Muslims believe is the final fate of non-Muslims (I.E. Christians, Jews, Pagans)?
The final fate is on God’s hand

22:17 those who believe (this Revelation), and those who are Jews, and the Sabaeans and the Christians and the Magians and the idolaters-- Allah will decide between them on the Day of Resurrection. Allah is Witness over all things.

Isn’t assigning partners to God a serious, serious sin? One that ALWAYS costs you your salvation?

I was just reading that chapter and the tafsir attached to it.

I’ll quote it & enclose the internet link.

Allah will decide between them on the Day of Resurrection.
That is, "Allah will pass His judgment on the Day of Resurrection in regard to all the differences and disputes which take place between different people and different religions and will decide which of them was right and which was wrong. "
searchtruth.com/tafsir/tafsir.php?chapter=22

So, out of all these peoples religions above, the Jews, the Chrstians…etc… ~ allah will judge which religion is right and which religion is wrong… hmmmmm

Well, how can this be?

How can allah if he is the One God allow Judaism & Christianity to flurish for over 6 thousand years and now the koran comes along and allah is now going too judge the right/wrong religion.

How can allah since he is God, how can he fool all of these people for 1000’s of years.

Also, I was doing some research to learn and understand more about the “Sabaeans” and what I did find is that it is NOT the “Sabaeans” the authors of the koran as speaking about it about because they died out in the 1st century but it the “Sabians” that it is talking about.

The koran passage you posted Hadi states Sabaeans and the koran I use also called them the same name. I wonder why this discrepancy on the name of these people.

I wonder where the Christian posters on these forums fall - we’ve heard about Islam and whole-heartedly reject it. But, do we fall under the “we’ve been preached the true Islam and reject it and are going to hell” or “we’ve been fed misconceptions and haven’t learned the true Islam and could possibly be saved” ? :hmmm:

I think it is best that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself answer the question asked.

"By the One in whose hand my soul is, no Jew or Christian of this community hears about me - {that is from the community of people from the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) until the Day of Judgment} - and then does not follow me - or he said does not believe in what I brought - except that he is from the inhabitants of the Hell-fire." [Saheeh Muslim]

Jay do you remember way back in some “ask about islam” threads someone had asked (I believe it was SedonaMan) our muslim members this question.

What is real islam?

And where does real islam exist?

If my memory serves me correctly, Sister Amy said that “real islam” does not exist and no country/nation practices “real islam”.

Chapter 22 #17
17 those who believe (this Revelation), and those who are Jews, and the Sabaeans and the Christians and the Magians and the idolaters-- Allah will decide between them on the Day of Resurrection. Allah is Witness over all things.

The above states allah will judge all religions to see which **one **is right - so only one can be right the others are all wrong.

**Chapter 2 #62
62 Those who believe (in the Qur’an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. **

This above states that they will have no fear of their nor will they grieve.

Well, this passage contradicts the above from 22.17

**Chapter 5 #69
69 Those who believe (in the Qur’an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. **

Again, the above passage contradicts 22.17

2 passages claim there is no fear and they shall not grieve but the first passage on 22.17 states that allah will judge the religions.

🤷

It’s so confusing.

All of the koran verses & tafris were from searchtruth.com

Please provide internet link for this hadith - I don’t want to go search 6000 hadiths for it.
Thanks!

Edit:

Never mind Hamba - I found it. ~ can you please in the future post the hadith book & #'s.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad, he who amongst the community of Jews or christians hears about me, but does not affirm his belief in that with which I have been sent and dies in this state (of disbelief), he shall be but one of the denizens of Hell-Fire. (Book #001, Hadith #0284)

I think that we also asked if it was POSSIBLE to practice “:True Islam”

Yup, that’s the one! I’m glad you remember as well… 😃

There’s also this from the Quran:

“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah ‘God’ ) never will It be accepted of Him”

(the Holy Quran - Soorah Aal’Imran 3:85)

I can’t keep track of whether Allah will give Jews and Christians mercy or not. 🤷 I wonder if anyone has tracked all of the related verses on this topic. ???

Hamba,
Isn’t assigning partners to Allah almost the worst thing possible?

OK, so this hadith that Hamba posted states that if Jews/Christians do not believe in mohamad we are doomed to hell fire.

Judaism & Christianity does not believe in mohamad so we are doooooooooomed! 😛

Oh well, the koran 22.17 and this hadith does not move me one bit.
