What do people think about watching videos/listening to music on YouTube?

You know how some videos on YouTube get taken down because of copyright infringement? Well, I was wondering, what do people think about listening to music recordings on YouTube, or watching clips of TV shows or movies? Would that be copyright infringement in some cases? Or can we assume that since YouTube does not take them down, they have been determined to be okay? THanks for everyone’s (name removed by moderator)ut.
 
I think it’s hard for someone NOT a copyright lawyer to know what is fair use and what is copyright infringement on the internet.

As a practical thing, youtube stuff frequently doesn’t play well on my mac g4.
 
Since even copyright lawyers disagree on what is legal and, I will abide by any court rulings.
