What do Priests do when they retire?

Few questions:
  1. Do they still perform light duties?
  2. Even though they’re retired, can we still address them as (i.e. ‘Father Smith’) as we’ve always done before?
 
  1. Yes, they perform “light duties.” While they are retired from full time ministry, they are always a priest. Usually retired priests help out at local parishes for Mass coverage and confessions. Some of them even take overnight on-call duty at local hospitals. They are retired from full time ministry and administration but always perform priestly duties within their ability.
  2. Yes, a priest is always called “father” even after he retires because he is always a priest.
