What do the people at the Vatican do for fun?

Yes, an opinion. George Burns lived to be 100, and he smoked constantly.

My dad died of emphysema because he was allergic to the cigarettes he smoked.

The level of impact smoking has on a person’s health is going to vary, based on person to person.

Also, “LOL” is not an effective argument, in any situation.

Back to the topic.
Look at it like this - if Burns HADN’T smoked, he could potentially have added another 10 or more years to his life. Heck, he could’ve broken world records for longevity. Who wouldn’t want that?

Just because some people live to be old from it does not mean that its not bad for you.

The ingredients in those cancer sticks are terrible. If you really think its not doing any damage to your body, you are wrong. It is not an opinion, it is true.

They do damage to all parts of your body whether you want to believe it or not. Get your head out of the clouds.

And don’t bother responding. Its a dead argument. I know cigarettes are bad for you. they might not KILL everyone on time, but if you smoked them forever, they eventually would. Even one cigarette can hurt your body in someway or another. bit by bit, they start to cause serious damage over time.
The facts prove you wrong on many of these counts, but you asked me not to respond, so I won’t.

And I’d watch what you say.

I dare you to go tell the thousands of people laying in hospital beds due to smoking who are now dying and tell them “cigarettes aren’t bad for you”.

I’m sure they’d have a lot to educate you on.

What about the millions of people who have died from cigarettes? Oh still, not enough proof for you that they are damaging to the human body?

All the smokers I’ve spoke to said that starting smoking was the dumbest decision they ever made, and I agree with them.

Really, you’re just asking for death by putting those disgusting cancer sticks in your body.

And by saying they’re not bad for you. Go into a hospital, I bet you’ll find at least 1 person who is in there due to smoking.

Just because one person lived a long life on smoking doesnt mean it didn’t do any damage. I bet your George Burns who smoked all his life, if he had an autopsy done, youll see his lungs were black compared to a healthy lung. Is that not considered damage? Or would his lung look perfectly good to you?

How can you be so blind to think cigarettes are harmless and don’t do damage? Really? How can you possibly think that? Unbelievable.

You really want to see what smoking can do? Go search “dangers of smoking” on google, and click on images. No, they are not friendly, but maybe they will wake you up.

These are not little pieces of candy, they are full of poisons, and cancer causing ingredients.
You’re putting words in my mouth, in your zeal to prove me wrong. You ignored how I posted that my dad died from smoking. I didn’t say it was unhealthy for everybody. Please read the entire post before you shoot your mouth off.

And he could have never smoked, been ten minutes earlier to a bus stop because he didn’t stop to get his cigars, and been smashed by a bus at 50.

Shoulda-woulda-coulda doesn’t fly for me. He lived to be 100 and wasn’t killed or harmed by smoking.

Peanuts can kill people too, but only if they’re allergic to them.

Are cigarettes a healthy habit? No. But even water can kill you if you drink too much of it.

And further, every zealous person I’ve ever talked to who wanted to start a witch-hunt against smoking has been a true-blue hypocrite. Because they all used cellphones.

Studies have been showing for years that cellphones give a person a much greater risk of cancer. But hey, gotta have Angry Birds and txting the BFF.

Getting back on topic, Clue used to be the board game of choice for relaxing during the long Vatican evenings. Sadly, it was banned once it was revealed that the butler did indeed do it.

I’m upset and worried because you don’t see to understand that Cigarettes are bad for you. And although it is an assumption, I am 100% sure that cigarettes are way worse and more deadly than using a cell phone.
Not to mention there are tons of people who scan these forums but don’t sign up, so if they happen to go past this thread, I want them to know that it is unhealthy.

How are cigarettes not unhealthy? You said you have proof. Please present it.

If they are not used properly - eg if they are held close to the head and used for long periods of time each day - yes. But there are measures you can take to prevent the risk.

And many people only use them for emergency calls occasionally, and do use the protective covers or earpieces or whatnot that prevent the risk of cancer.

There IS no safe level of smoking, by contrast. Tobacco companies would love to be able to get a scientist - any scientist - on record saying ‘well, heavy smoking may cause disease, but if you only have five a day/one a day/one a week or less there is no damage done’. But they haven’t. And that’s because there isn’t a safe level.

And there isn’t any remedial action you can take to prevent the known carcinogens in tobacco smoke from getting into your body, or the bodies of those exposed to your second-hand smoke.

So I suppose you would never ever deign to consult a doctor, no matter how deathly ill you were? You might live longer if you do, but then you could also get run over by a bus on the way to the surgery or the ER 🤷 Never mind that the being run over by a bus risk pales into insignificance compared to the chances of getting better after consulting the doctor.

And if you WERE ill and a doctor deigned to give you advice, you’d never take it, I’m sure. Again, because you’re very likely to live a lot longer if you pop those pills the doctors tells you to take, but again you could also get run over by a bus on the way to the chemist to buy them. 🤷 Again, the chances of getting well doing the former greatly outweigh any risks of the latter.

You know physicians are about the only profession singled out in scripture as being specially blessed by God? It’s in Ecclesiasticus Chapter 38. Look it up sometime. And when your doctor tells you to give up smoking remember it and give them the respect they deserve.

AGAIN…please read it this time, slowly…I said that cigarettes were not unhealthy FOR EVERYONE. I didn’t claim that they did wonderful things for your health, only that George Burns lived to 100 and smoked like a freight train.

Please, PLEASE read my posts before you launch into your tirades like a demented space shuttle.

I had to repost this here, since I am for some reason unable to edit the previous post.

And what makes you think George Burns needed to go see a doctor in the first place? Where did my point of saying that not all people react badly to cigarettes somehow become me hating doctors?

Yes, they are unhealthy for everyone. You make it sound like George Burns was an alien and was able to block the dangers of smoking. You’re wrong, he was a human just like everyone else and was affected by cigarettes in the same way anyone else with a human body would.

All cigarettes harm ALL humans in someway or another. Whether it be your organs, blood pressure, lungs, ect.

Cigarettes are unhealthy to anybody who smokes them.

There is no such thing as them ‘not’ being unhealthy. There is no such thing as being immune to the harmful effects of cigarettes when you smoke them. They will damage everyones body.

And yet, there are some people who smoke and have no ill effects whatsoever.
Give that person an autopsy and compare their lungs to a non-smokers lungs.

I bet you all the money in the world that there will be damage.

You seem to think not everyone has damage from smoking, boy are you wrong.

Why can’t you get this in your head? 🤷

Exactly. Ask any doctor who has looked at the blackened, tar-clogged and compromised lungs of any deceased smoker compared to the pinker, clearer, healthier lungs of the
average non-smoker and tell them that it doesn’t do EVERY smoker harm. Maybe Burns wasn’t affected so badly that he needed a wheelchair or oxygen tank, but he still would have been seriously lacking in the lung function department. And so are you.

Ok, out of this thread. I respect yall’s opinions, but fact and experience don’t agree with them in the slightest. Peace.
