St. Mother Teresa?
St. Teresa of Calcutta?
St. Teresa?

Thanks.
Pope Francis:

“I think, perhaps, we may have some difficulty in calling her St. Teresa: Her holiness is so near to us, so tender and so fruitful, that we continue to spontaneously call her Mother Teresa,” the pope said in unscripted remarks during his homily.

With all due respect I still call her Mother Teresa … I have grown too fond of her over the years to not call her Mother.

Mother Theodore Guerin was the foundress of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and actually walked the grounds of our Cathedral in Fort Wayne, IN. Almost no one around here calls her Saint Theodore Guerin, she is Saint Mother Theodore Guerin.

I think the use of the term Mother shows our affection for a saint and I don’t think the saint minds one bit.

I think this is fine, and it’s not without precedence either. St. Pio of Pietrelcina is still most commonly called “Padre Pio”.
