What do we "do" in Heaven?

What would be simply heavenly, would be never to have to face death or suffering ever again. Just learning that God exists and that He loves us enough to have us live with Him for all eternity would make it all worthwhile.

Finding out that the atheists have it all wrong, that there is life after death, there is a God and there is a Heaven would be reward enough. Anything beyond that is just plain gravy…

For him to say that a Bishop said to him that "Even I as a Bishop cannot say the things that you say, KEEP SAYING THEM**** Speaks volumes on what is happening in our Church ! Well - this question has two aspects, now, and later.

There will be a “new heaven” and a “new earth” - so we can think about what heaven is like now, and then what will the “new heaven” be like, and likewise, the “new earth”, after we have received our glorified bodies at the general resurrection.

Hey - ya know what? In the end it’s all speculation!! No one knows, and all we have is Faith and Scripture. So, we live a holy life, and pray to end up where God wants us.

im disapointed i thought i would live in ‘Heaven’

but it seems Gods gonna put us on planet Earth again and reserve ‘Heaven’ again for his beloved angels maybe

oh why wasnt i created an angel instead so i couldve enjoyed heaven in this age and in the next and have wings to feel free and fly across the night sky

I was actually asked these questions by someone else: how do I imagine Heaven, for instance how do we look like, what age are we if we have a physical appearance, are we active or passive, do we have a partnership, do we “hang out” with others, do we learn things, do we compete, do we have emotions like anger, fear, depression, joy etc., can we lie, do we feel time, do we age or stay the same, and so on…

I couldn’t really answer most of them and only speculate. Does the Church say anything about this or is it more a mystery that no one can answer with certainty?

I think it’s more that since we will have already experienced death, there is no real reason for us to perceive the passage of time (or that we will have an entirely different way of relating to time).

Nothing changes because there are no things in heaven! We remain the same** persons **but that does not mean we are inactive. Love is creative and dynamic…

The question implies that there must be **physical **activity in heaven but the most fulfilling activity of all is spiritual. Truth, goodness, freedom, justice, beauty and love are all intangible yet they are more precious than the things we can see, hear, taste, smell and touch. We should cherish persons with their thoughts and emotions far more than material objects:

“What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world…?”

That is a good way of looking at it! Spiritual existence is the eternal present - with no past or future. There is no time to measure because **physical **change doesn’t occur.

On the contrary in my opinion, that is exactly ‘not’ a good way of looking at it. There seems to me to be many errors contained within this line of thinking. Methinks we should go back to re-read p1 here which adverts to a more sensible approach.

Specifically, any form of physical movement is a “physical change.”. I.e, a change in the conformation of a physical body. Certainly once we have been fitted with resurrectional bodies, we’d get to use them???

What do we do in heaven? We praise the Triune God for all eternity with the angels and the rest of the Saints, and Our Queen, the great Mother of God – Mary, Most Holy. We are absorbed by Him, in Him, through Him. There is nothing greater.

Hardly. Remember, you will be a pneumatikon soma: spiritual body. Your very breath will be “spirit.”

You cannot become “less spiritual” in Heaven any more than you can become “less physical” in your human life: every human being, irrespective of their level of health or ability, is equally a physical body as long as they can breathe.
