My stepdaughter has an old book of spells that appears to have been owned by a witch. The book has fingerprints on it that may be a mark of ownership by the first witch who used it. A pagan told her that she must bury it in white cotton cloth with black string before midnight on the next full moon and then place lemons around her room and bathe in epsom salts for fifteen days. She also has to soak anything that was touching the book in salt under the full moon and wash her cell phone with saltwater.
If she does not do this then she will be exposed to possession by the former owner of the book or be exposed to bad luck. This has happened, according to the pagan, because she displayed it as part of her gypsy costume with tarot cards at a Halloween party. We are Catholic and want to know what the Church teaches regarding this.
