What do you all think of Joyce Meyer?

My opinion exactly. She is soooo full of herself.

I like to listen to her once in awhile. I think that she is a very good speaker and she can hold your attention.

My only problem with her is the same problem I have with all Protestatant Preachers, they teach the truth the way they see it.

The scripture states that on the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit came down and it was not until the Power of the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles that they could understand scripture themselves. Then the power of the HS is handled down by the laying of hands.

Now I was told she has a bible herself out now with her teachings, My problem is authority. She was never given authority by Christ to do that. We can all Preach in his name, but where does scripture state we can all TEACH in his name. That my problem with her. But as a rule for a Protestant Preacher I like her.
 
I don’t think the gifts of the Spirit are bad.

I think the Evangelical Charismatic movement (perhaps I should call it the Neocharismatic movement?) as evidenced from the Toronto Blessing and Vineyard churches, does not follow Scriptural mandates regarding the gifts of the Spirit, most especially “holy laughter” but also other occurences that are encouraged and downright expected at such services.
 
For one, I have a problem with the fact that she is divorced and remarried. Secondly, she is typical of the plague of protestant/evangelical/charismatic performers who have hijacked orthodox christian teaching dating as far back as the late 19th century. Total truth lies within the paramiters of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. People need truth, not the latest teaching that’s the flavor of the day in the world of television evangalism. Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyers, John Hagee, Rod Parsley, etc,…all cut from the same cloth of deceit.
 
Joyce Meyer is, like so many “televangelists”, just a motivational speaker using Christianity as an “angle”. She is not an authentic Christian shepherd (obviously). Worse than that, she is exploiting the uninformed faith of her viewers and is using Jesus Christ to get rich, and encouraging others to, likewise, use God to gain material prosperity.

This is the very lowest form of Christianity; the most vulgar manifestation of the historical degradation of the Christian Church through schisms, divisions, and subdivisions.

I do not mind listening to Dr. Charles Stanley,but there has been a few instances, where he stated Purgatory was fabricated and confessing our sins to priests is not necessary. Not shocked coming from a Baptist preacher who follows 19th century evangelical theology.

Not worth my time and I find her arrogant and her theology is wacked.

Even more insane, look up “holy vomit.” I know what you’re thinking: “Ha ha, real funny, dude.” Ah…I wish I was making that up. 😦 Some people seriously think the Holy Spirit makes you throw up. I feel blasphemous just writing that, but I write it to warn others of false teachings and not mock the Spirit.

In fact, if you want to see something really shocking, listen to audio from the Toronto revival, which I believe Kenneth Copeland and some of his fellow false teachers put on. I listened to audio of that once…ooooh boy. Lemme tell you, I’ve listened to the “well to hell” audio, and the Toronto revival audio was WAAAAAY scarier. :eek:

Frankly, I don’t think about Joyce Meyer. If I did I would be jealous of her income. Say AyeMEN?

Yeah, same here. It’s just that one thing that keeps me from giving her seriousness. I don’t know if it’s wrong of me to be that way. But Jesus couldn’t have been clearer on that issue. I really don’t understand the logic when protestants do that.

Eh I don’t know about that. Archbishop Fulton Sheen probably wasn’t a fake.

Then again, it was so long ago that TV was in black and white, and instead of wearing fancy clothes and having a fancy set, Archbishop Sheen wore a cassock and used a blackboard. EWTN follows in a similar tradition.

Although you thankfully never had Fulton Sheen saying something like the Trinity was 9 Persons and ending his episodes with, “Thank you, and God love you…if you send me $1000,” like you do on TBN. 😛

I totally agree but watch out. I got blasted for trying to explain that “speaking in tongues” was only given to the 120 at Pentecost so that they were able to spread the Gosple among those who spoke different languages. 😦

Yeah, there’s a difference between speaking in languages and speaking nonsense, and the irony is that what they call “speaking in tongues” looks more like what happened with the Tower of Babel than like what happened at the Pentecost.

Good point. I’m talking about the TBN/PTL and INSP crew, not real guys like Billy Graham or Fulton Sheen. Their lives weren’t devoted to getting poor people to send them money to fund extravagant lifestyles. Sheen is the man. And I love EWTN…they’re located about an hr from where I live!!! 👍
