what do you believe will happen next?

Dear MPJW2

I am a bible believing, Mass loving, eucuhrsit (and Wine) taking-believing it is the Body and the Blood-, pretribulation, rapture believing, , end of the age of grace, these are the end-times, 1000 year reign of King Jesus, believer of the Judgement- be it just the bema seat or purgatory( as Pope benedict describes as being under the gaze of Chrsit as our lives are burned up or purifed) watching John hagee and Perry Stone and EWTN, roman catholic who cleans the altar and changes the holy water Catholic.

I am sssssssssooooooooooooooooo weary of being called not catholic enough or, worse, too catholic for my own good.

I am not going to hell. I am going to heaven, either when raptured or when I die.

I think there are secret thousands of us. But fear being ex-communicated or declared anathema.

So be it if it happens. Nothing will come between my God and me.

Actually, I think Jesus kicked Thor’s butt, or everyone would still be worshiping him, right? Also, a God who is everywhere cannot run away :rolleyes:

hi Paul, thank you for mentioning the rapture. the rapture is exactly what I am getting at. You say you agree with the bible.

If that is so then why do you not agree with 1 Thes 4:14-18?

Paul clearly states when Jesus returns, all who are in Christ, will be caught together in the clouds with the others who died in Christ before us. It will be in the air we will meet our Lord.

The real issue here is interpreting the Bible. The Greek word translated “meet” in that passage was often used in the sense of greeting a coming dignitary. It could be better translated “greet.” So, that talks about Christ’s redeemed greeting Him when He comes to judge the quick and the dead.

A good book to read is The Rapture Exposed by the Rev. Barbara Rossing, a Lutheran theologian. Here’s a video of her talking about it here: youtube.com/watch?v=frqIH5eATWg

I believe in all the bible teaches.
If Jesus were to return tomorrow, those who reject Him will not be caught up to the clouds with Him.

All those left behind on earth will have to endure seven years of _____________.

After reading Revelation, esp Rev 13:11-17, I invite anyone to fill in the blank.

All those during these 7 years who have a change of heart and become a believer in Jesus, and not the beast, will be martyred for their faith or die from starvation because they will not be able to buy anything without the mark of the beast on their forehead.

A few questions I have to anyone reading this…

Do you believe 100% in the bible and what it teaches us about Jesus, Jesus’s return and the events which will follow His return as detailed in Revelation?
If you do not believe, then I sincerely pray that you have a sincere change of heart before it is too late.

May almighty God reveal His truth to anyone who does not believe in Him and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Paul, thank you…I watched the video and I could understand why Barbara concluded …“goofy scenario is abusive to people”

She does not believe 1Thes 4:17.

All I can say is she may be a thelogian but she is not God and that my prayer includes you and her too.

My pastor is also a theologian.

Yes, him and I and our church believe we believers will be caught up to the sky when Jesus returns.

Someone has a false belief and I do not believe it is me. I am 100% sure of it.

What exactly is your belief about what would happen should Jesus return tomorrow?

May I offer do not take Barbara’s belief as gospel truth or mine for that matter.

Seek the answer from God not Barbara.

Ask God for the truth.

I do not believe He will lie to you.

I look forward to hearing from you as we celebrate the truth of God’s word together.

Hi Strawberry, I agree with you. The apostles creed does have truth and is important as catholics proclaim the creed at every mass.

You are also correct in stating that Jesus never commanded the creed to be said.

I was brought up in a Roman catholic family. The creed was one way to reinstate our faith in what we believed to God.

She does believe 1 Thes 4:17 and so do I. I think you’re confusing believing the Bible and believing one particular interpretation of it. And the Rapture has been abusive to people. When I was a child, I attended a very fundamentalist United Methodist church for a couple of years. At that time, my parents wern’t going to church and I never was an official member. I do want to make clear that I thank God for that church. What I learned there had a great impact on my coming to faith in Christ. But they taught the Rapture in such a way that scared the hell out of me. I was probably in the second or third grade at the time, and I was always worried about the Rapture. I’d try to call someone on the phone, and if they didn’t pick up my first thought would be that they had been Raptured and I’d been left behind. I remember being scared to go to sleep because I was worried that the Rapture would happen in the middle of the night. Now, this wasn’t all the time, and eventually I decided just to trust Christ and not worry about it, but I went through some pretty scary times as a kid because of this false theology. It wasn’t until a couple of years after I joined the SBC at age 14 that I realized that the Rapture was a bunch of unbiblical hogwash.

I, along with the vast majority of Christians, hold to what is known as an amillennial view. This holds that the 1000 years in Revelation 20 are symbolic of the time between Christ’s first and second advents. When Christ returns, the dead will all be physically resurrected and reunited with their souls and will be each judged by Jesus Christ according to principles of righteousness. The damned will be cast into eternal torment in hell, while the righteous will be glorified and will dwell forever with the Lord. The New Jerusalem will desend to Earth (but I’m not sure if the city is literal or if it’s symbolic,) the power of evil will be defeated, and Christ shall rule over a world driven by non-violent love- the love of God. And in that world we will be able to live as God intended and no one will be left behind.

When Prophet Jesus will be back to earth, he will pray to God among the Muslims, and he will kneel to God and his forehead will touch the ground as Muslims pray. He will fight the anti-Christ and kill him. Then, he will lead the Muslims for about 40 years before he dies. And God knows best.

Paul, I am sorry to learn about how you were scared by the way the rapture was taught to you.

When I let myself imagine what will happen to all non believers in Christ when He returns, it is scary.

Just imagine for a moment all the highway traffic around the world.
Then, within a split second all the drivers who are believers being called up to be with Jesus in the clouds and for eternity in heaven 🙂

This does not scare me. What scares me is the horror on the ground after Jesus returns

All those cars…,highway speed…with no drivers

planes without pilots to fly them
now the thought of this kaos scares me.

If I am driving to work tomorrow and Jesus should return, I will be with Jesus and my car will still be in motion until it hits something or worse someone 😦

Paul, I do not believe you believe as I do in regard to Jesus return.

But, if you let yourself think of the horror that can happen to non belivers…how important is it to introduce Jesus to those who cross our path who may not know Him?

Imagine being that other person.
What do you think one’s reaction might be when their co-worker suddenly dissapears right before their eyes??

Luke 17:34-37 is another account of Matthew 24:40-41. Look up the passage in Luke, paying special attention to verse 37. In that passage, the one who is taken is taken to judgment. In that, the one who is left behind is the fortunate one.

Scenario…

Jesus returns at the time you were dining in a crowded restaurant, at this exact moment all the non believers in Jesus Christ witness the sudden dissapearance of people around them. The chairs they once sat in are now left vacant.

Note: they did not all get up out of their seats and walk out of the restaurant.

Question…

Do you believe this is a possibility according to what the bible teaches about Jesus’s coming?

This brings Mark 13:19-20 to mind.

“For those days will be a time of tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will. Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.”

It says that the Lord shortened the tribulation for the sake of the elect. That must mean the elect are still on earth during the tribulation. And that must mean they were not raptured away.

So in answer to your question, no, I don’t believe the rapture could possibly happen before Jesus’ coming.

I believe it will happen right at the moment of Jesus’ coming, after the tribulation.

“The God with Laser Eyes” - that could make a good film.
