What do you do about a priest who always begs for money during the homily?

How would you handle it if you had a priest who is constantly begging for money during the homily? I would like to have the homily teach something. Sometimes I feel like if I hear him start one more time on time, talent, and treasure I am going to scream. He is beating this drum to death. I know that I am not the only parishioner who feels this way.

Have you considered reducing the priest’s need for begging by donating your time, talent, or treasure? I can assure you this priest isn’t constantly harping on the need for volunteers and donors at the parish because it’s his favorite homily topic. Since you “know” that you’re not the only one annoyed by these homilies, perhaps you can call together this group of disgruntled parishioners to meet with the priest and ask him what the parish needs and how your group can assist him in making that happen. If the priest sees the real interest the parishioners have in supporting the parish, perhaps he will feel free to talk about other topics during his homily. This is likely to be more effective in changing the homilies than rolled eyes or screams from the pews.
