What do you do during adoration?All answers appreciated!

The rosary is the first and foremost thing I do at adoration. Sometimes it’s the only thing I do, and then I leave. Other times, I read the Bible, or skim through any of the books on hand in the chapel.
If I’m ever alone in the chapel, I like to talk, out loud, to the Eucharist.
. After all, it It Jesus Himself.

Just spend some quiet time with Jesus. Talk to him about what is going on in my life. And Pray.

Sometimes I say the rosary or read “Imitation of Christ” or some similar small book. Sometimes I try to be quiet and listen. As another poster mentioned, I may speak out loud if no one else is there…but I have to admit that that I would be embarrassed if overheard.

First and foremost, I make a point of praying in silent contemplation of the Real Presence of Christ. Often I have a particular focus of prayer, either for the conversion of friends and family or for broader Christian unity (kind of my pet prayer project 
), and I make sure to focus at least some of the time on that or on any particular prayer concerns.
For the rest of the time (I have a committed weekly hour) I am usually either praying the Rosary or reading some holy material, like Scripture or the writings of the Saints. Right now I’m reading the Catechism of the Council of Trent.
Spending time in prayer before Jesus himself is a wonderfully enriching experience. Sometimes I just stare at Him an awe and reverence.

HOLY HOUR OF REPARATION
In 1945, the Holy Hour of Reparation book was published, and shortly after, was taken to Rome and presented to Pope Pius XII for his approval. He studied the booklet and approved it saying, “This is one of the most powerful prayers that you can pray and is second only to the Mass.”
It’s small, but chock-full of beautiful prayers :heaven:
After I finish the prayers in the book, I usually pray silently or just sit contemplatively with Our Lord
It may sound silly, but … I have been known to sing hymns (silently, in my heart) while there, too

nowadays, nothing but kneel as long as I can, then just sit quietly
reading is too distracting
if I have not yet done my LOTH or lectio divina I do that, but the rest of the hour I just sit

One of my favorites is this one:
O Divine Jesus, lonely tonight in so many Tabernacles, without visitor or worshipper, I offer Thee my poor heart. May its every throb be an act of love for Thee.
Thou art always watching beneath the Sacramental Veils; in Thy Love Thou dost never sleep and Thou art never weary of Thy vigil for sinners.
O lonely Jesus, may the flame of my heart burn and beam always in company with Thee.

I just googled the above prayer because I couldn’t remember the exact wording (my book is kept in my car’s glove compartment, so it’s always ready for use in the chapel) …

Most of the time I just sit and pray or “talk” to the Lord (in my head). Sometimes I will bring whatever religious book I am reading at the time.

Hi,
I am really glad that people around the world do the same thing that I like to do. I do go for adoration as often as possible.
Especially these days, most of the days after work because I get down from my bus and right there there is church and an adoration chapel 24/7.
Sometimes I am totally blank. So I sit looking at Jesus and thinking of His face and his presence. Isn’t true that when you are spending time with a person whom you love so dearly, you don’t have to talk much. The mere presence itself is such a wonderful expression of Love.
But things to do during adoration…
1-Think of His real presence
2-Meditate on the Most Loving, Most merciful, Most Sacred Heart. Meditate on the Abundant graces that His Most Sacred Heart is willing to pour out to you.
3-Meditate on His Passion. and think fo your unworthiness , yet how blessed you are to be called to Him.
4-And if you are totally totally totally blank, Talk to Holy Spirit. Because when we don’t know how to pray Spirit intercedes for us. So Pray to Holy Spirit to teach you and connect you to our Lord and Father.
5-If you are traditional prayer book type : Rosary, Divine Mercy chapelet, Chapelet to the Most sacred Heart of Jesus etc are very meaningful and they help in your spiritual growth.
Try not finishing it off in a Hurry. Always try to find some time to be in silence contemplating on His Love. Make yourself available to for Him to speak to you.
And if you still don’t know what to do next time when you do to adoration, pray for me!

St. John Vianney had a simple French farmer who would spend hours in the church every day before the Blessed Sacrament. One day St. John Vianney, moved by his sincere devotion, curiously asked him what he does while he prays. The farmer responded quite simply, “I just look at Him and He just looks at me”.
I was moved by that story and I always try to spend just a little time simply looking at Him.
I also will read a spiritual book and take notes, or meditate on a certain mystery or aspect of my life that I need an answer to. I sometimes pray the rosary. Try and spend as much time on your knees as you can. I think you’ll find a deeper experience that way.
Bottom line, this is your time with God. It’s very personal so do what seems fitting. I think there is a quote out there that says adoration is simply “wasting time with God”. No idea who said it, but it sounded good to me!

I usually start with the rosary, then move to whatever spiritual book I’m reading. I just finished re-reading the Diary of St. Faustina. I like the idea that many of you speak of, about just spending quiet prayer time with Jesus, I’m going to start doing that.

I was given that book for Christmas this year and use it every time I go to Adoration, which is usually every Thursday. Except today because we are driving a long way to a Solemn High Mass with the FSSP in Seattle.
The Holy Hour of Reparation takes exactly one hour plus a little extra time for silent prayer. But its just right for me.

Just sit there and talk to Jesus, or read my Magnificat, or some Scripture, or say the Divine Mercy Chaplet, or…nothing, but I am easily distracted, so that does not always work for me, or I find myself falling asleep
