Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus
Dominus Deus sabaoth
pleni sunt caeli et terra in gloria tua
hosanna in excelsis
benedictus qui venit in nomine domine
hosanna in excelsis

Truly a good and fitting prayer for adoration for use in addition to ones own petitions and private confessions (not the sacrament ofc in this case).
Because we are preparing for Lent, I’m teaching my youth choir the traditional Chant for Holy–the Sanctus. Do you know where I can find proper Latin pronunciation?

Youtube has plenty of good videos. Alternatively you could check on google videos or perhaps for a more long term investment purchase a musical cd from a chant group like psallentes or from a monastery.

They should have the correct pronuntiation although the exact intonations and versions may be different depending on there place in the liturgical year or through genuine variations in the chant,

Heres an example of a sanctus from youtube. (not the best, but this one is definitely correct in the liturgical timing so i chose it)

Most often I read this little book:

HOLY HOUR OF REPARATION

In 1945, the Holy Hour of Reparation book was published, and shortly after, was taken to Rome and presented to Pope Pius XII for his approval. He studied the booklet and approved it saying, “This is one of the most powerful prayers that you can pray and is second only to the Mass.”

It’s small, but chock-full of beautiful prayers :heaven:

After I finish the prayers in the book, I usually pray silently or just sit contemplatively with Our Lord 🙂

It may sound silly, but … I have been known to sing hymns (silently, in my heart) while
there, too :o
I just clicked the link that u wrote at the bottom of this post for the blessed sacrament and I was so happy I did! I am learning slowly more about Eucharistic adoration and Jesus’ presence in the consecrated host. Thanks for sharing this site. I have shared it with others.

I use two books called “An Hour with Jesus”, Volume I and II. I found them on the internet and just love the Meditation and prayers they contain. They also have the Mysteries for the Rosary to be said, which I try to do every time I go. Adoration has been a huge blessing in my life and I know you will have many blessing from Adoration too. 👍

These all sound wonderful. I should go to adoration more.

A question for everyone though: I have read some authors say that one should always make a spiritual communion when you visit the Blessed Sacrament. It takes a few seconds, and is the foundation of any other prayer we do at that time.

What do you think? I am considering making a habit out of this, but I haven’t memorized a spiritual communion yet.
I have St Alphonsus de Ligouri’s book The Holy Eucharist, which contains 2 Spiritual Communion and a 31 day visit to the Blessed Sacrament. Highly recommended.

I was recently on a long trip with no chance to visit, and upon my return I spent time prostrate before Jesus. An amazing experience.

It appears that everyone else is a lot more structured at adoration than I am. I greet and thank Jesus and then ask Him to tell me what he wants to tell me, I also try to imagine that I am present in the crowd actually listening to Him, and try to visualize and experience that.

Rosary first thing, then lectio divina with my trusty pocket Douay-Rheims. Also prayer, lots and lots of prayer. Sometimes I just stare and feel the presence of our Lord, or try too at least.

When I,am at Adoration I kneel on both kneels than I enter my pew and kneel and pray, than after awhile I sit and talk with my Lord who is present before me.

Yesterday at Adoration I spent 10 minutes on the floor
prone position, asking our Lord for forgiveness.

Try it some time it is very cleansing

Might be hard to do the first time, after that…
