What do you do if you forget to fast before Communion?

What should you do if you, without thinking, eat something within the hour before Communion? Assume it’s the last Mass of the day and you can’t go to a later Mass. Should you go to Mass but not receive Communion?
 
Yes. Catholics are not required to receive Communion at every Mass they attend. If you inadvertantly eat or drink (other than water) in the hour before Communion, simply remain seated at Communion time. You can make a spiritual communion by praying for unity with Christ and the congregation.
