I converted this year and since then it has been nothing but a progressive spin into debauchery that I was trying to put away. My self-loathing has reached such a point that I don’t even have any respect for myself anymore.

There is honestly no good in me. How am I supposed to be a Catholic?

Please know there is always good in you. Satan is trying hard to undo your conversion.

Please go talk to a priest. I don’t know what you mean by debauchery, whether you are exaggerating it in your mind, but if you are not exaggerating, then maybe an exorcism would be in order. Your priest could help you discern this.

In the meantime, do you have holy water? Bless yourself and your house. Do you have a rosary? If so, say it and ask the Blessed Mother to ask her Son to deliver you from these thoughts and desires.

I will pray for you.

Self loath…

Aww…

I do that.

Know what I do … go to confession. Why? Because I’m not loving God with all my heart. I’m not loving my children and my family with all my heart. God is not first in my life when I am self loathing…

and know what?

God forgives.

I receive God’s grace and mercy and I have fuel for the road…

our road to our faith and spirituality.

God bless.

Frequent confession (weekly if necessary). It’s the very best medicine.

What if you don’t care?
You go anyway.

It’s called obedience.

Grace flows from obedience.

Advice from my sponsor (I converted just this past year as well), “even when you don’t feel like it, do it anyway”

Go today and see what happens. 👍

I am praying for you.

It looks like you equate being a Catholic to being holy. Being holy is not a pre-requisite to becoming Catholic. Becoming holy is a lifelong journey - the Church is a church for sinners just like you and me.

Being Catholic now means that you now have substantial tools granted by God to help you on that journey to become holy. We stumble and fail all the time…we may even feel far away from God. The good news is that the Church will never reject you and can help rid you of those things that keep you separated from Him.

Trust in Christ and His Church. Acknowledge the fact to Him that you fail and that you need His help and His mercy. Come to him in the Sacraments, especially Reconciliation and the Eucharist. You’ll find that His mercy is unending and abundant.

God Bless you.
