What do you do when mowed down in the Communion line?

Is there a rule about not cutting through the line of those going to receive the host at Communion? Since the precious blood is on one side of the altar, and some people wanting to receive it are sitting on the other side, they “cut through” the line on their way back to their pew. I am prayerful as I go up to the altar and have nearly been mowed down by those cutting through!

No, there are no “rules” from the Church governing Communion lines, only the presumption that people will use common sense in creating reasonable “traffic flow patterns” that will allow everyone to receive Communion in a timely, reverent manner. If the current “traffic flow patterns” in your parish are not working, then talk about it with your pastor. He is the one who should be working to make certain that the Communion lines in his parish are suitable for the layout of the church.
