what do you guys do to stay focused in your daily life as being christians, i think i get side tracked often by alot of things mainly from the world, when you come down back to being religious you are shocked that you got side tracked, i know the obvious answers might be say a prayer and what not but they arent working too well, i mean, i say them but they dont really help me focus, maybe some help?

Why focus? Are you a nun, or a cleric? As men and women in this world, it is our job to change the world for the good in all the little ways of our life. By making an offering of our days to the Lord each morning and remembering him in our victories and disappointments of the day we can take the Little Way and still walk in His shadow.
Not all saints are found on their knees. Prayer, in proportion, is essential, however prayer can be found in every act we do, always steering to the Light in every little action and reaction. Every relationship from how we treat our family to how we treat our subordinates and work mates must be inspired by the offering we made that morning. That is how to remain focused. By living the little things as if they were before His eyes; and understanding that they just add up to the race that was run well.

Saying little prayers to God during the course of the day. It doesn’t have ti be much, sometimes just a “glance” towards Him. Saints often describe this as a glance from the heart, but I actually glance up with my eyes.

But this also includes short prayers as well. I esp try to remember to thank Him (a weakness of mine).

Here are some examples, just one line each!

You already have the good intention, now work on making an awareness of God your habit as often as possible. It seems to me you are looking for integrity, and it is so easy to compartmentalize our lives, like, “Now I am working, and now, I am with friends, and now, I am being religious,” as though religious focus is somehow incompatible with those other activities.

One remedy I’m thinking of is the example in the Way of a Pilgrim, how he repeated the Jesus Prayer over and over until it became ingrained in his mind, almost like background music playing in a supermarket. I can tell you, this works. I made this prayer my habit, and sure enough, it comes to my mind all throughout the day, even outside of times of formal prayer. It draws me back, off and on, to that wonderful awareness of God’s presence no matter what I’m doing.

But you say that prayer isn’t happening for you so well just now, so maybe try wearing a different cross or saint’s medal around your neck, something you don’t usually wear, that will help draw your attention back to your better intentions whenever you notice it.

I aim to pray always. Be sincere and pray for the grace of devotion.
