I have often heard that there isn’t really anything “wrong” with it, as long as you don’t act upon what you see, e.g. in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, witchcraft and various types of black magic. I only occasionally watch Buffy, and I, too, can’t really find too much about these shows in the Catholic view. Now, for the Buffy movie, the USCCB website gives it a A-III rating, which means it’s for adults, but doesn’t list anything being wrong with watching it. Hope I could help you out!

Not really my thing.

I am not attracted to them. I once had a co-worker who liked Charmed and when I was switching channels and saw it, I got curious enough to watch a bit. I thought the way the girls delivered their lines made them sound fake. It also seems too complicated.

I don’t feel it is right to watch dramas about witches and vampires. I have no problem with watching Bewitched, though! And that movie, “Love at First Bite”. So, I don’t know. Maybe as long as it is a funny fantasy, lighthearted, not complicated and other worldly, it feels alright.

From what I have seen of Charmed and Buffy, they seem to have decent core story lines.

I just think people shouldn’t get too wrapped up in the twisted traditional morality—ie sex outside of marriage is fine (it isn’t) and demons can change and be good and love people

I understand that many Catholics are pulling the plug on cable TV for Lent to take a stand against what they bring into our homes. It only takes a few Catholics from every parish in America to pull the plug and stand up against the anti-Christian/anti-American/sex/violence and all the other poison we pay for each month to destroy our own culture. They need us more than we need them and in 40 days they will change their programming or lose us. It seems like a difficult thing to do but not compared to the early Christians that took a stand for their faith and were fed to animals and turned into human torches. They gave their lives.

I don’t watch many of these shows but I grew up with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it was a great television show and obviously had things like vampires and dark magic in it, Wicca being the most controversial topic of the show but at the end of the day it was always about good conquering evil and more often than not Buffy herself was wearing a cross while doing it.

if it’s not some New Age/Wicca thing, then it’s some form of secular humanism.
At least pagans have some sense of the transcendent and worth beyond mere utilitarianism.

It would be better to just watch EWTN instead.
