I guess I should elaborate. There is one DVD with several topics. I have the actual DVD and there are about 6 topics that discuss a doctrine quite unfamiliar to typical bible Christians. It is a solo scriptura faith the describes themself as Chrisitans [only]. The believe in baptism, works, one marriage for life, weekly communion, evangelism, etc.

That’s what I said. And I said it many years ago when we were of the same faith. Ironically, this is a friend of mine that has challenged me. He also sent me several “Journals” that contain several articles that would fit well within a Catholic journal. I suspect converts in there. But some of the others are very much like the DVD. I’m supposed to send him some books that I said I’d send him. But that was based on him saying he’d changed some. Well, after listening to the DVD I’d say he hasn’t changed but gotten worse.
This is a man who told me that his reason for preaching against the Lotto was we’re not supposed to cause our brother to stumble. That was so so misapplied. But it was typical of him. The reason I’m so set to respond is that if you knew how they treat the women under their “authority” you’d realize that most would accuse them of abuse, mental and verbal. It’s quite crewl. My wife is a nervous wreck from it and is taking the time to process out of it. This group is actually on a list of Cults I’ve heard before. They act a lot like one. Thank God I wasn’t that weak minded. I just didn’t know the things then that I know today.

I watched all of “The Truth”, parts of “The Creator”, “Authority”, and “Baptism”.
You are right. At first, much of what he says seems to be pretty much in line with Catholic teaching. In fact, at first I was wondering if it might be a clandestine attempt to teach people about the Church.
The thing to ask these people is how do their INTERPRETATIONS of Scripture compare with the interpretations of the first Christians - those who learned at the feet of the apostles.
What they understand about Scripture comes from their particular tradition - what they were taught by their parents and pastors, etc. It’s important that they understand this. Because these ideas of theirs are RECENT INVENTIONS of men.
Get him some of Steve Ray’s books and some others that investigate the beliefs of the Early Church Fathers. Ask them to determine if the understandings they have learned from their tradition correlate with the understandings of the early Christians.
It’s pretty simple, really.
