Do you think this woman is a common example of how Catholics are perceived and why they fall away from the Church? 🤷 I got kind of mad watching it.

Who knows. I can say she has not clue about what the Catholic Church teaches. She is a perfect example of someone who tells us what the Church teaches, not learns what the Church teaches.

My favorite part was when she said if praying and going to Church going to help get you into heaven? No. Oh okay then why did God tell us to obey his commandments.

I feel sorry for her she is in a very dark place, you can tell by the anger in her voice, and her hate for the Church.

Oh well all we can do is the opposite of what she teaches and continue to PRAY, for ourself our loved ones and especially for her.

While I agree that praying and going to Church is just a part of what we are to do, we have to live out our faith also apart from Church.

I wonder how she feels we are to recieve Christ in the Eucharist without Church.

I must say though at first it brought anger in me, then pity. I will pray for her, she is in much pain.

I watched most of it and took down some notes.

All poorly catechized Catholics are vulnerable to listening to what sounds so easy as to how to be a Christian by other denominations.

In the beginning of the video she mentions about her penance at her first confession. She was given ten Our Father prayers to say. Then she said she said them every night after that for “back up just in case.” That sounds scrupulous to me, or a ridicule of what penance is.

She mentions being impressed that at a non-Catholic Church bibles were brought to Church.

Unfortunately, she didn’t catch on that the Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Catholic Mass is something that other denominations do not have, as they interpret differently what the Bible means. They reject the legitimate authority of the Church.

I can’t read her heart, only God can, but hopefully she will continue to read and learn about what the Church truly believes.

And, Catholics do NOT believe that we have to work our way to heaven. We believe that we are saved by grace. And, we also believe that faith without works is dead, as it says in the Bible.

You hit the nail on the head. 👍

Absolutely, I think this presentation shows the cliches of what non-catholics commonly believe about catholics.

Prideful, trusting in our good works to save us, working our way to heaven without a “personal” relationship with Jesus Christ, never opening our bibles…

I don’t know about you, but I have never heard catholics making fun of baptists…this woman made it seem commonplace:nope:

From the video:
“The only wine I consumed was at Catholic Communion.”
Poor dear. She really is confused. We should pray for her and all those who have lost their faith.

Heard it all before. Apparently she never really learned her faith. All I hear is “sunshine” being blown and all is peachy and lovely. What I find ironic is how so many ex-Catholics “find” God once they leave? I did not know God hides,if one is Catholic? Please!

I’m not a fan of these testimonies. I think people get to wrapped up in telling a story that has to contain certain elements meet some kind of “ I’m an former XYZ, but now I’m saved” criteria. It’s hard to put my finger on it, but these kind of narratives strike me as lacking authenticity, it’s to well rehearsed to come from the heart it seems.
