Earlier today I was talking to a friend about a world history textbook we use for class. In this book, in the few times it mentions Jesus and Christianity, most of the remarks are blatantly anti-catholic/anti-christian in general. However, Buddhism is frequently mentioned, and is done so in a way that is much more favorable than Christianity and Judaism. So while upset and talking about this, I said the book makes Jesus look like an *******, while at the same time making the Buddha out to be some kind of holy god. A little while later I was thinking about this and wondering if what I had said would have been sinful. Now, I know there were definitely better words I could have used, but I wasn’t thinking that much at the moment, and it slipped out so to say. So I thought about it, and since in no way do I believe this, nor said this in an insulting manner, and on top of it being spur of the moment, I assumed it wasn’t all to serious. Am I wrong for thinking this was a venial sin at the worst? For those wondering, the word I used rhymes with bass pole.
