Love your neighbor as yourself…

is one of the hardest for me… Most of my “neighbors” don’t seem much like “the least of His brethren…” (St. Matthew 25:31-46), but then i probably don’t to them either… :hypno:

that is exactly the one I would have said. I’m really struggling to love one particular neighbour right now. She has been picking in my little girl. 😦

Oh my goodness! That is a tough one…

I will pray she moves away… I hope she isn’t doing anything too awful… 😦

I would have to say, this is a hard one… “But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44)

It seems closely related to the one you mentioned. I struggle with this one. Not an easy thing, to love and pray for people who cause you suffering and misery.

But one passage I found in the Diary of St. Faustina (1628). Our Lord told Faustina that she would recognize that she had love for her enemies… if she retained her peace and prayed for them… and wished them well.

One Hail Mary is usually all I can muster up… in this situation. 🤷 but, I’m working on it. Pray for me.:gopray:

“I give you a new command: love one another as I have loved you”.

It seems impossible, yet it is a command.

take up your cross and follow Me.
yeah well I can think of 10 things I would rather do with this cross.

Well, you don’t have to carry it alone! I’m sending some spiritual help in the form of three Hail Marys!

paraphrasing: Be perfect, as your Father in Heaven is perfect.

I know it’s impossible, but I also know it’s not impossible to try. It’s getting myself to try always that’s the catch… good thing God is merciful.

dear duskyjewel,AMEN Sister!!!

You know, for me it’s the whole beam in my eye while I’m looking at the specks in the eyes of others…

For me, “let the children come to me.” I’ve never liked children much, so it is very difficult for me to see them the way Christ sees them; as having such purity and innocence that everyone should strive for. It takes a lot to not scowl or give a dirty look to a screaming child (or, more appropriately as is often the case, a parent who allows it to continue). I know, I’m a horrible person, but I’m trying…

Judge not! Forgive those who trespass against us! Love your neighbor as yourself! Be merciful! It takes everything in me and much more, all the time. I pray about it but even that sticks in my throat sometimes.

I think that I must struggle with all the ones you all have mentioned and then some. Compassion for one.

‘‘Let he without sin cast the first stone’’

There are certain people I want to cast more than just a stone at because of what they do to others.

for me the beatiudes and as “Love one another as I have loved you” I live in an apartment building so these two I also feel I am failing on. I am glad Jesus is merciful .:bible1:

For me, of late, it is Mary’s words at Cana – “Do whatever He asks of you.”

Thanks… This made me realize i could be in sin :

I do not retain my peace very well when people do me wrong. Oh, i keep my peace while in the situation, while in the midst of dealing w/ them… but then later, when alone, i go on and on about it, to myself and/or to God…

I am getting better about this (anyone who stays in Christ usually does :o ) but, well, sometimes one has to examine the “psychology” of what is going on within… take a look @ the issues going on deep inside… (not always easy… ).

That is more than i usually manage… But while i admit i probbaly should say the Hail Mary or other formulated prayers as soon as a problem arises… it may also be good to do what I am now doing: take a good look @ such questions as: Why do i feel SO offended? (did i find offense where maybe none was intended? do i expect too much from the person, am i seeing things through tainted lenses, etc.).

another thing 2 remember (but not easy 2 remember when in the middle of things:whacky: :ouch: ) is that God uses unpleasant experiences w/ others to make us realize more fully that they cannot be for us what only He (Jesus) can be…
