Fr. James Martin, S.J., is an editor for the Jesuit magazine America. I’ve read his book, My Life with the Saints, and part of his book, The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything. I particularly liked his saints book, but both were helpful in their own ways. Fr. Martin tends toward the center-left of the so-called “Catholic spectrum,” but for the most part (at least so far as I have read) his books avoid controversy.
