What do you think of name-calling?

A person just told me “calling someone a fool because he’s acting like a fool isn’t the same as name-calling, it’s naming a demonstrated behavior.” This is in regards to when he said, “Anyway, these people are fools. The Church does so much charitable work that it would be a shame to lose it all because of some idiot politicians.” What is your opinion on his view of name-calling?

That someone following his own criteria for labeling “demonstrated behavior” could just as easily use the same labels for him. Then he would rightly state, “How dare you judge me!” in which case, I would cite Jesus’ words:
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get (Matt. 7:1-2).
