If I get quick answers tonight that it’s not good, I could still cancel the order. I’ve placed the order to a UK -used-books -seller for a lower price than a new copy, it’s stated ‘as new’ though, but they didn’t handle my request today.
I thought that it would be a better option than buying the additional volumes of the Hermeneia Continental -commentaries that are on a sale right now: fortressforum.com/profiles/blogs/hermeneia-and-continental-commentaries-digital-edition-on-sale … I have 4 volumes and am pleased with it.
One thing that annoys me with the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Books of the Bible, is that according to Amazon, the some of the same persons who buy it, also buy titles by Raymond E Brown, and I’m trying to avoid any association to Raymond E Brown at all costs, as I don’t like him as an author.
What I’m looking for, is a commentary that is a bit liberal but is also respected.
I’m not a seminarian, but I read advanced books, and I’m going to read Biblical Greek ~1½ years from now. (The closest library is very small, the next closest (still close, ~3 miles) is somewhat small so it’s probably futile to tell them to order a copy and they will not let You borrow it home. The same with the main public library, it’s somewhat big but they don’t have all that much theological literature and I strongly doubt they would be interested. Oxford has a system of selling digital editions to libraries, but the libraries over here provide very little such content. And I don’t think I would like to be limited to the opening-hours of a library, especially not during the summer when they are shorter.)
EDIT 11:16 PM local time: the seller has processed my order now, I don’t know whether it’s possible to cancel it anymore but my hunch is that I will be pleased with it.
