What happened to the Gifts of the Magi? I have not been able to find a good answer on the internet or in the CA search feature. Please feel free to discuss any answers. Thank you.
I believe some of the gold was used to fund passage by ship from Ashkelon (about 50miles or two days west of Bethlehem on the coast) to Egypt far safer for the holy family than a 200+mile trip by land always at risk from King Herod’s soldiers. The rest of the gifts were converted to money for support in Egypt because there was little wood in Egypt so there would be little work for a carpenter. Some or all of the myrrh may have been used to anoint Jesus as king, because the magi were known as king makers. What happened to the Gifts of the Magi?
Considering the shelf life of Myrrh in modern containers is only around 8 years I think it highly unlikely that would have kept for the burial of Jesus.I think the myrrh would’ve been used for Jesus’ burial. Not sure about the others
