Hi,

I’ve been hearing a lot lately about the Pope and his quote. I was just wondering what you all think,as Catholics, what the outcome might be. Will there be a war? Will Islamic leaders accept the apology and move on? What will happen now?

Thanks guys

A reading of the address indicates that the Hoy Father has nothing to apologize for.

Perhaps, though, some duplicity will be unmasked. Is it a coicidence, one wonders, that the Pakistani legislature has reacted with high umbrage, and the head of state has explained to the world that he knows the Taliban is operating out of Pakistan, but tries to mitigate that situation by saying the government never gave them formal permission?

I doubt that there will be (another) war, even though some Islamists have proven they will do anything to pick a fight.

Blessings,

Gerry

I don’t have a clue what will happen, except what I see in the news, which makes me feel angry. I am a fairly recent convert, March 2002, I have pretty strong and positive feelings regarding the Catholic faith and this great Pope we have. I read his remarks on the vatican site that someone on this forum made so easy to find and now these people that were so offended by these remarks that called for nothing but peace and love, are burning down churches and I guess killing more people. The same people have been calling our Pope horrible names, calling Catholics and Christians horrible names for years, probably centuries, blah, blah, blah.

The Pope will not apologize- he has nothing to apologize for. The Muslims will be angry for a while; Christians will feel their anger.

Interestingly, the Pope is going to Turkey in November.

A clown will perform if it has an audience.

When the flag burning, and death to America, and burning an effigey of the pope happens, the news media would do well to turn off the camera’s and go back to their hotel for cocktail.

Just as in this country, there are “bands” of protesters “agitators” that roam the country looking for trouble or start trouble. It’s world wide. It’s not about religion, or a cartoon in the Danish paper, it’s about causing a stir. And boy, do we American’s buy into it, as well as the rest of the world. When a child has a tantrum you ignore it. It would bode well to do the same for “reactions” such as this.

I do not believe the Pope intent was to antagonize anyone or a religious group for that matter. Any “rational” human being would ask their religious “leader” to contact the Pope directly and discuss the misunderstanding. But then again, we are not dealing with rational people, we are dealing with radical religious people, who with the help of “agitators” keep the pot stirring.

Notice how they look at the camera, constantly while shouting and screaming…watch next time, you’ll see. Notice that they look all around when a reporter asked them a direct question, so they can see “who” is watching or listening. Notice the people in the background, waving “Hi Moms”…

Again, don’t give them an audience…
