A guy friend tells you he has a boyfriend?

You point your finger in his face and screech “FILTHY SINNER” and banish him forever.

What do you think a Catholic is to do? Love him. Be kind. If it moves into details it is okay to say “TMI, dude”.

I do not think I have ever congratulated anyone for “having a boyfriend” even one time in half a century.

I’d simply say “all righty, what movie do you want to see this weekend?”

I suppose you could start by asking what his name is. You could then make the decision if you want this person as a friend or just an acquaintance. If you become friends, and they sense any spirituality in you, you can become a living witness to your faith. You can offer prayers up for them.

Dont forget the Heineken. Although I would only invite them to a movie if the OP is a girl. If the OP is a guy, just invite them to the neighborhood bar-b-Que.

Sorry. But I’d see him as a sinner.
And warn him - of the possibility - of going to Hell.
Tell him about Sodom and Gomorrah - in the Bible.
I’d also stop having fellowship with him.

I think congratulating the person would definitely be wrong, as it would fall under “approving” another’s sin (CCC 1868).

Not that I’d see any pressure to do so.

Yes! And that passage is more nuanced than many people realize.

I was waiting for that to come up. I wont deny it, it is there in print, but at the same time, the Vicar of Christ washes the feet of criminals. Just something to think about.

If I stopped talking to him, how will he view the Church? Wouldn’t he view it as hate the sin and hate the sinner?

2nd Corinthians 6 : 14

He needs to repent.

That is talking about marriage. This is the reason we have to ask for special permission to marry a non-Christian.
