Well while we are working on that, you can come to the bar-b-que too if you want.

A guy friend tells you he has a boyfriend?
Remember that being a friend does not mean that you condone their sins. The difficulty is in meeting a sinner (all of us) at their level but not leaving them there if you can help it. Its a fine balance. Maybe if you both are very close he will ask your opinion and you can try to help him. Ask sincerely if he wants to have a family someday, have and raise children, live a Christian Life. Sometimes the best arguments are just asking questions that point to truth.

I’d ignore it. I have my own sins and flaws to deal with it. I’m too busy to say anything about the sins of someone else.

Are you maybe 13 years old? What you describe is the way children communicate.

If someone walked up to me and said “I have a boyfriend” I would reply “I have a Dachshund. Hey, have you seen that new exhibit at the Science Museum?”

There you go! You can’t get there by hurting them first when you have not even been asked about your religious views on the matter.

Tweens would walk up and randomly announce “I have a boyfriend” or “I have a girlfriend”.

Adults who don’t have emotional or development issues simply do not talk that way.

I’m a teenager, and a friend most likely will tell me who he or she is dating. What happens if it’s a guy telling me he has a boyfriend?

Relationships aren’t secret, close friends will know who there friend is dating, especially if you know the person he or she is dating

As flow in a conversation, it makes sense.

It is okay to say “okay” and change the subject. You do not have to begin a big homily or anything.

That passage says that fornication is a sin, that sex acts outside of a valid marriage will send you to hell.

Romans 1 verse 27 and 28.
Seagull, I understand that you want to explain to me that ungodly sinners should not be spoken too. But what if this person was your best friend? Are you saying it is that easy to just avoid that person? How would that impression of a Catholic be on your friend?

I’m not saying affirm their lives, I’m saying to stay as a friend while they have clear knowledge of your convictions

That - Active homosexuality - is not approved by me.
And you believe that is what your friend will perceive. If I was in his shoes, I’d think the Church must hate me and want nothing to do with me (and I would make up all these hateful perceptions of the Church because my friend was so hateful. I wouldn’t have learned anything, no chance to convert).

Is that what you want? No mercy for the sinner? Did Jesus not convert people who were sinners that didn’t believe at first?
