When God answers a question through prayer, or speaks to you through prayer, do you hear his answer? Or how do you know when you have gotten the answer to a prayer?

Hi! No I do not “hear” him speak. Sometimes I will have a feeling wash over me and I feel like that is God “answering me.” Other times events will play out in my life in positive ways and I can see God’s doing within them. There’s a lot of patience involved. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like prayers are being answered but then when you look back, you see that they were!

Thank you for the answer!! I will keep this in mind for tonight when I pray 😊

For me it’s been different ways at different times. Some times the answer just pops up out of nowhere & makes perfect sense.

Some times when I pray over a question & flip to a random page in the Bible & within two or three verses I’m literally reading the answer to my question.

So basically you’ll know.

But sometimes it’s not so obvious, & you won’t know. I truly believe our prayers are always answered. Always. Sometimes, we just can’t understand the answer.

We would not expect a private revelation for each prayer, or for any prayer. God speaks to us through the Church, through our Pastors, our Spiritual Directors.

For me, a bible verse will come into my mind (something that I wouldn’t have thought of on my own) or sometimes we can feel the Holy Spirit moving within us (love, peace, joy, etc.)

But be wary searching for a feeling or a tangible immediate answer, God likes prayers of faith and childlike trust!

Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.“ 😊

Answers to prayers often come in the form of experiences, that is, we experience the answer God gives us. Things happen in our lives in response to our prayers. Some call them “signs”, some call them “miracles” (large or small), or we may simply realize that what we have prayed about is being tangibly addressed. If we can remember what we prayed for or about, we can easily make the connection when the answer occurs.

Sometimes, great consolation. Other times, the “Word of knowledge” - assurance regarding things that I have no other way of knowing. Occasionally, things come into focus days, weeks, months, years later. Many answers are realized only in retrospect.

I seek no answers, per se, but occasionally receive them anyway. I pray habitually, not expecting answers, as I do not need answers in order to persevere.

I need grace and that I have always received.

i don’t know if this is making sense, i’m having a hard time feeling like i’m describing it well.
You made perfect sense and you describing it perfectly.

Sometimes even if I pray to get out of doing something I don’t really want to do, I get a feeling of peace either while I’m doing it or after.

and then sometimes I get little hints, or a voice shouting in my head…trying to tell me something that I need to accept or change, when I pray about something.

God answers every prayer in many different ways, you just have to relax and keep praying till you hear Him.
