What does BBQ mean to you?

It means low ‘n’ slow, no matter how you prep or finish. When you’re talking pig, it’s spare ribs and I like a dry rub and a mop now and then of vinegar, finished with a glaze during the last half-hour or so.

As for chicken, gotta have the bird sitting on a beer can. It only takes about an hour and a half and will be the best bird you ever tasted.

All of which reminds me, it’s time to pull out the rig! 😃
This is my understanding of BBQ. I am from VA.

I have used the term at “ccokouts,” but really these are two different animals.

Well, from one native So-Californian to another… Yuck!

(Not you, just the BBQ tofu idea.)
Hehe. Thanks for clarifying. 😉 (p.s. Wasn’t our good old home state of California… the first to introduce OSTRICH burgers too?). :rotfl:

In Southern Louisiana, BBQ means hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken, and jambalaya. We perfer crawfish/crab/shrimp boils, though. Those are a treat!

To my way of thinking (and I don’t know if it’s because of my ancestors from Texas, or what) BBQ is when the man lights a fire under an outdoor grill and throws vegetables and potatoes (smothered in butter and wrapped securely in tinfoil) into the fire, and places thick fatty slabs of meat covered in “barbecue sauce” (reddish brown spicy stuff that tenderizes the meat while it’s cooking) on to the grill, flipping them over from time to time and poking them with a fork to see if they are “done” (the way you tell is, if the juices are running clear instead of red, it is “done”)

The woman “has the night off from the kitchen” which means that she lays the table, makes the salad, bakes a pie for dessert, and washes the dishes after the meal is over.

I am thinking that in all charity, the moderators should temporarily lock this thread for Good Friday. 😛

Heart attack. 😉

Seriously to me it means, having a fun time with family/friends make some good food.
