I probably take this more literally than most, but for me I try to always have God in the forefront of my mind. Moreover, I think we need to avoid those situation that distract us from this cognitive state as much as possible. Throwing out the TV and limiting our Internet time are good places to start. Going to church is good, but there’s much more we can do to get closer to God throughout the day. Pray for the grace to pray always, and God will eventually provide it to you. Nothing compares with our always being in this type of Contemplative Prayer.

What you say here reminds me so much of Brother Lawrence’s The Practice of the Presence of God, which I looked at ages upon ages ago. If you haven’t read it, I’d heartily recommend it. I might go find my old copy on my dusty bookshelf tonight.

Yes! Brother Lawrence’s book is inspiring on how to make all we do a prayer. Do it out of love for the Lord!

Of course, we still need special alone-time with the Lord for silent listening, Rosary, etc.
