I am told that the first three Hail Mary’s represent Faith, Hope, and Love respectively. However, I’m not really sure what each of these mean in terms of praying the Rosary. I assume Faith refers to our believe in Mary’s powerful intercession but perhaps not. What exactly is meant by hope? And is Love referring to my love for Mary/Jesus or for them to love me (or am I completely off base here too)?

Hi,

The first three beads do not represent faith, hope and charity. We are actually asking for hope to live such virtues. When we pray, using the first bead we are asking for an increase of grace to aid us in the virtue of faith. On the other two beads we ask help with the virtue of hope and charity.
