What does God need?

does God need our good works,is He thirsty for water or hungry for food and is He naked for clothes.It seems to me that God does in fact really need something and it seems the only thing God needs is love,love,love and love is all He really needs imho - any comments - twinc

You ask a basic philosophical question that has been asked by every thinking person for hundreds of years.

God does not “need” anything! But, we do. God will continue to exist, create and love even if we refuse to love Him or “believe” in Him. He would be hurt, but not wounded.

Works of charity, both spiritual and corporal, are the way we show our faith and love by caring for His creation and the people He redeemed.

I need His grace, and I can thank Him by prayer, worship and acts of charity.

God doesn’t need anything but He wants us to love each other by obeying His commandments. If we live a good life and love Him, He will show us His Mercy and Love by allowing us to spend eternity with Him in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Sounds like a very generous offer from our loving Father.

It is my firm belief that God is and of Himself the Way for us to live. He is Love and our love should inform all aforementioned corporal and spiritual works. Good post!

Harri - I read somewhere that if we as fallen,fallible,fragmented humans wanted to really love and care for creation and people we could best do this by sleeping 24hrs every day,now there’s a thought ! - there is no way we are going to do this,because we want to be out there doing good - twinc
