wearing hats, heels and more. Is it a sin?

Thank you for your responses in advance.

Love,
Sheila

‘How many Christians live for appearances? Their life seems like a soap bubble. The soap bubble is beautiful, with all its colors! But it lasts only a second, and then what?’ - Pope Francis

The Church does not comment or rule official on matter of fashion.
We women use common sense.

I think as long as the woman’s attire is reasonably modest in view of where she’s wearing it, reasonably priced within her budget and in view of the situation, and she’s not being excessively vain about her clothes, that God has bigger concerns and expects people to simply use common sense when dressing for the occasion and within their means.

hahahaha. A non-Catholic friend sent me a video saying that women look like holes, take the L out and the Catholic Church women dress like hookers when we go to Mass. That’s the reason for asking. They were reading scripture. I don’t like how we are always put in the middle of being heretics or just plain evil.

I usually tell the truth but I’m tired of having to defend, defend, defend. I’m disabled, hurt and have high anxiety.

Thank you for the laugh Cecilia.

I like wearing jewelry, nice clothes. Makeup too, but not very often. I already use creams and sunscreen, so makeup is only for only when I need to look better than usual. Not immoral, as long as it does not get out of hand.

Queen Esther spent an entire year making herself lovely before she appeared before the king.

God blessed her and her people.

Well, I have triple pierced ears and currently wear two pairs of diamond studs and a pair of fake diamond studs I got when my third piercing was done.
Or pearl studs)

I always wear one of either my silver or gold crucifixes, sometimes with a MM, or other silver medals, or one of two diamond crosses.

Light makeup

Flats, never heels

Top of some kind

And jean or leggings in cold weather

It depends why you are wanting to wear jewelry. Is it for show, to show your wealth or to look superior to others? What aboit the circumstances? Will putting in fine jewelry cause scadall to the others you are with. So, use common sense and prudence when decing to wear jewelry. I leave you with a writing from St.Clement of Alexandria:

Well, obviously a non catholic would not have the right impression since he or she would not be attending Mass regularly, or at all. Pictures of immodest women would be taken because they stand out. You wouldn’t really feel the need to take a photograph of a women dressed appropriately and post it online for the world to see.

Protestants even wear makeup and I’m sure a lot of them would wear makeup, heels and jewelry on important events like their wedding (even if they disapprove of it in general).

Vanity is a sin but wearing heels etc isn’t.

By the way its perfectly normal for a woman to want to look beautiful, so reasonable, light makeup is not sinful.

Alot of times jewelry is sentimental. It brings edifying thoughts to the wearer of who gifted it to them, or a special occasion, such as celebration of a sacrament. I think wearing jewlery in this manner is a blessing.

The thing is, even heavy makeup is not sinful. It’s just the intention behind it that can make it sinful. I can wear heavy makeup because it’s a hobby and I love to experiment with colors and it’ll be alright. But someone else who wear it in an attempt to seduce someone or to wear it because she is overly obsessed with appearances over her soul (vanity) would be in the wrong.

Makeup is not evil in itself so yes, in this culture, you are probably right. My wife wore a good amount of makeup on our wedding day, I thought she was stunning, but would have thought that if she wore none. So yes it depends on intention and circumstance.

Yeah I’ve mentioned around here before that I look very very young - like I could easily pass for a teenager. A good hand with makeup can make a woman look more mature. I do that a lot if I’m going to a job interview or some other format where first impressions are important, because it helps me look like I’m a mature, capable adult.
