What does it mean to believe in Jesus?

I’m sure there exists a formal answer in the Catechism or from an early church father, but the question is just as much personal as anything.

What does it mean to you to believe in Jesus?

It’s in the Creed:
  • in one Lord Jesus Christ,
    the Only Begotten Son of God,
    born of the Father before all ages.
    God from God, Light from Light,
    true God from true God,
    begotten, not made,
    consubstantial with the Father;
    through him all things were made.
    For us men and for our salvation
    he came down from heaven,
    and by the Holy Spirit
    was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
    For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
    he suffered death and was buried,
    and rose again on the third day
    in accordance with the Scriptures.
    He ascended into heaven
    and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
    He will come again in glory
    to judge the living and the dead
    and his kingdom will have no end.*
 
To believe in Jesus implies obedience to His Word, as the Baptist tells us in John’s Gospel:
“35 The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God’s wrath” (Jn 3:35-36).
 
That God sent His Son down to live among us.
He was baptized. He started His ministry. He found his apostles to start His Church and carry on after He was gone. He performed miracles and He healed people. He was the Sacrificial Lamb who died for our sins. While on earth He proclaimed the Kingdom of God and instituted the Eucharist. He was crucified, died and was buried. He was resurrected on the 3rd day.
