What does it mean to know God?

Some thoughts:

To know God is to love God.

To love God is to obey His Son – love God and each other.

What we do to each other, we do to His Son. Therefore if we learn to love each other, we love His Son.

Jesus said if we know Him, then we know the Father.

In that I would like to add,

If you remember Moses at the start was noted to have quite a temper. Note that the Lord’s choice to write the Commandments that He also called His Covenant on stone. When Moses came down from the mountain with the first what happened? He tossed the tablets and ordered the Levites to slay their brothers. Was this God’s judgement or of Moses. Then following that Moses prayed aloud about God’s Grace to him and to His People. Then the Lord God’s revelation to Moses announcing His Grace Mercy Loving-kindness, Longsuffering. And then Moses returned with the tablets of stone with the Commandments again written by the very Hand of God. And any act that required elimination of any persons, was done by act of God, Judgement of God, not Moses.

In this is His Commandments written on stone, like unto hardness of heart, for His Commandments are written on our hearts. We forget, that the world and circumstance can tempt us to have hardness of heart, toward the Lord and or toward others, but it is what the Lord God has written on our hearts that shall prevail. That they are fulfilled in us like unto Christ in Grace and Truth.

By virtue of being sons and daughters of man. We have birthright to come to know the Lord God through His Word in His Spirit. To despise that birthright, like Esau or refuse that birthright “blaspheme the Holy Spirit”, results in not being in the Presence of God, and not having that confidence, trust, to come unto Him and receive and be received of Him in Him, and that it would be well with you, to be Blessed of the Father through the Son, the heritage of Jacob that we are grafted into…

Maybe you are talking to one who don’t know how it is that a Loving Father would want to talk to one of His Children through His Word, (Jesus Christ) in the Holy Spirit.

How can a Loving Father not want to speak to His own?
The Bible is the Written Word of God, and Jesus/Holy Spirit use the written Word to help teach us.

The Holy Spirit decided what was to be included into the Bible. So any teaching that does not agree with the written Word is wrong.

If one sins he or she does not know God.

If one sins he or she does not know God.

Who is the judge of that, you?

explain this: 1John:1:

5: This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10: If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Do you seek to express hardness of heart? Or Grace in Christ?

I have answered the objections you have brought up, in other post, but will do it again for you.

First read what John said in the following verse. (1 John 3:9) “No one, who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God.”

It would help if you would read all of one of the verse that you quoted. I will copy it for you and we can read it together.

(1 John 1:8-10) “If we say we have no sin in us, we are deceiving ourselves and refusing to admit the truth; but if we acknowledge our sins, then God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and purify us from everything that is wrong. To say that we have never sinned is to call God a liar and to show that his word is not in us.”

You notice John says: “but if we acknowledge our sins, then God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and purify us from everything that is wrong.”

Purify us from everything that is wrong. Do you really believe that once one has been purified from everything that is wrong there would be any sin left? Now all of a sudden one is free from sin. Is one then deceiving him or herself, and refusing to admit the truth?

Notice John ends up that verse with: “To say that we have never sinned is to call God a liar and to show that his word is not in us.”

Thanks for the reply

Sorry there my friend I don’t recollect any discussion or discussions with you at all, other then my most recent posting, and again I have no previous protest or contest posted on this thread, in respect to what has been posted, other then my most recent posting, it might be possible you are thinking of some one else.

Not to be rude, but I am not sure what you are getting at here (usually others are telling me that 😉 ) in Christ sins are forgiven, end of sentence. If one is in Christ why focus on what is wrong, when the correct, Jesus is available to you? Eat of the Tree of Life and disregare eatting of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

But if you what to go on about western societies, “modern age” or something, get used to it, it’s been no different since Rome in the days of Apostle Paul, just read the first chapter of Romans it will sound real familiar, unfortunately. Nothing modern about that, just regression to what was before the Gospel came the western world via Rome.

I will have to cut this off here, I will be away for a few days, again thanks
